Some Churches are reluctant to publicize a doctrinal creed.  We, on the other hand offer our doctrinal statement's up front for a very important reason.  We want you to have an advantage over us as you choose where to worship.  We want you to know as much about us as you can before you visit.  This will help to avoid wasting your time on issue you care about.  The following are Sweet River's essential doctrinal statements.

1. We believe in One God, maker of all things, being in Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Deut. 6:4 Matthew 28:19

2. We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  We believe He was incarnate (came into flesh) by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and is true God and true man.  John 1:14; Luke 2:5-7

3. We believe the Holy Scriptures in its original writings to be the word of God.  We believe it is the inerrant, infallible, and final authority to govern both the Church and all the family of God.  II Tim. 3:16; II Pet .1:20, 21

4. We believe in the second coming of Christ.  We believe He will literally, physically, and visibly return to the earth to establish His kingdom beginning in Jerusalem.

    Matthew 24:30; Rev. 3:12.

5. We believe in the finished work of Christ on the cross when he purchased our eternal salvation, healing, and deliverance from the power of Satan.  We believe eternal life is a free and unconditional gift to be received by believing the gospel message and thus becoming born again.  John 3:3-5

6. We embrace the earliest protestant reformers such as Martin Luther and John Calvin, who specifically taught how eternal life could never be forfeited or lost.  Eph. 2:8,9; Titus 3:4,5
