Some Churches are reluctant to publicize a doctrinal creed. We on the other hand, offer our doctrinal statement's up front for a very important reason. We want you to have an advantage over us as you choose where to worship. This will help to avoid wasting your time on issue you care about. The following are Sweet River's essential statements of faith.

1. We believe in One God, maker of all things, being in Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Deut. 6:4 Matthew 28:19

2. We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We believe He was incarnate (came into flesh) by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and is true God and true man. John 1:14; Luke 2:5-7

3. We believe the Holy Scriptures in its original writings to be the word of God.  We believe it is the inerrant, infallible, and final authority to govern both the Church and all the family of God.  II Tim. 3:16; II Pet .1:20, 21

4. We believe in the second coming of Christ. We believe He will literally, physically, and visibly return to the earth to establish His kingdom beginning in Jerusalem. Matthew 24:30; Rev. 3:12.

5. We believe in the finished work of Christ on the cross when he purchased the following: (1) our eternal salvation, (2) our physical and mental healing, (3) and deliverance from the power of Satan.

6. We embrace the teachings of our earliest Protestant Reformers on the subject of eternal salvation.

In a Post-Reformation era where the message of eternal life has become a metaphorical return to the legalism and theology of the Roman Catholic Church, (on this one narrow point,) we joyfully embrace our protestant roots. We proclaim with their voices from above, how Eternal life and the Doctrine of Justification can never be lost or forfeited for those who have been born of the Spirit of God.  Eph. 2:8,9; Titus 3:4,5
