Contemporary worship styles are nothing new among Christian Churches these days.  Many ministries have now left the old music styles behind wanting to reach a new generation of people with a fresh wind of the Holy Spirit.  We do not criticize the famous Hymns of our past nor do we say, we will never use them again.

If the Spirit of God wants to revisit those precious songs, He can and does from time to time.  However, we've moved on these days to new and fresh sounds which are now a top priority in our Church.  We want to yield to His leadership in style, fashion and substance.

We clap our hands because the bible says, "clap your hands all you people... " (Ps.47:1.)  We lift our hands in surrender to God because the Bible says, “lifting up holy hands without fear and doubting...” 1st. Tim .2:8.  We dance because the Bible says, “Let them praise His name in the dance...” (Ps. 149:3.)

Actually, there are many physical expressions of worship such as sitting, kneeling, standing, bowing, or just keeping silent, (Ps.46:10) which are all acceptable forms of worship.  We give you the freedom to do any, all, or none of the above.  Our philosophy is freedom to worship God anyway you desire without bringing obvious attention to yourself.  We do not want selfish distraction, but nor do we want to restrict worship to a mere form or stagnant ritual.  Our God is alive and worthy of passionate praise and we encourage it here at Sweet River Church.
